I always find it hard to recommend tourist scene for my friends visiting Hong Kong , especially for those metropolitan people who just want to see something different from the traveller's guide. The fact is , those 'different side' in reality may not of their interest of all - how many westerners really care about those historical sites recommended in government 's tourist site ?

So here is my plan - try to capture the different side of Hong Kong in REAL. Tai-O fisherman villa in Lantau island - forget those advertisement slogan like 'venice in the east' , it is JUST a fishermen's villa which is quiet and peaceful during the weekdays , so good for a nice walk for restful afternoon, and take a sip of chinese tea outside the balcony standing in the water.

Outside "Solo Balcony" Solo is owned by Mr So who is a native resident in Tai-O. Passion about this village makes him to setup this cafe by waterfront , with a gallery next door dedicated for local artists too.

Tourist boat across the village. Years ago the whole village was destroyed by fire , but still people insisted to restore the village rather moving up to apartments provided by the government. In one case the whole family is once again reunion under the grand-pa 's call for help to all sons who had left the village for years, and one by one log the house was built and the family is bonded under the same roof above the water. Yet another untold touching story in life.

Salty fish hanging around with bed sheet and wet clothes. cooking rice smell over the river. This is the real life of the villagers.
